How to Report Suspicious Behavior
As a massage therapist there are always concerns of illicit practices disguised as massage therapy businesses (human trafficking, prostitution, etc.). We at AMTA-OK Chapter would like to give you the tools on how to handle situations like these in the State of Oklahoma.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you engage in your own investigation of a facility, don’t put yourself in harm’s way. Ethically it is our responsibility to file a report if we have knowledge of illicit behavior.
If you have first-hand knowledge or suspect a massage therapy practice of being illicit or engaging in human trafficking here in the State of Oklahoma, and wish to report it please take the following steps:
1. Contact Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics attention Agent Mike Snowden at phone number (800) 522-8031. If you have issues contacting Agent Snowden, you may contact email@example.com and we will forward your information to who can assist you.
Contacting Agent Snowden is the absolute first thing you should do.
If you would like to follow up you may also:
1. File a complaint with Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology and Barbering. Go to the OSBCB website; Forms here is the link https://www.ok.gov/cosmo/Forms/index.html Scroll to the bottom for the complaint form for massage therapy, please note that the form needs to be signed. Our initial understanding was it also needs to be notarized, the cosmetology one does, so to be on the safe side get it notarized.
2. File a formal complaint with local or county Police Departments, depending on where the facility is located.
